On April 21, 2025, the U.S. Supreme Court denied certiorari in the case of Worth v. Jacobson. By declining to hear the case, the court let stand a ruling of the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals that affirmed a district court ruling that Minnesota’s permit to carry law was invalid as applied to adults younger than 21.  Sheriffs in Minnesota will now be issuing permits to carry to otherwise-qualified applicants 18 to 20 years of age.

I can also do a class for your group, company or family.

This is the class you need to carry a weapon, concealed or open, in Minnesota.

Since I am an NRA Certified Instructor, this training can also be used for non-resident permits in AZ and FL.

The Minnesota permit is recognized by many other states, but many people add AZ or FL to increase the number of states they can carry in.  Every state has their own particular laws, and you have to keep up on any changes when traveling to other states.

Minnesota Permit Covers these 28 States:

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana,                  Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, North                                    Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont,                            Virginia, Wisconsin

If you also add a Florida non-resident permit you are covered in 33 states:

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa,                       Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana,                           Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma,

South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin,

              Wyoming

Topics Covered:

Firearms Safety

Safe Carry Methods

Safe Storage Methods

Considerations for your choice of carry weapon

How to stay out of trouble

Legal requirements before, during, and after an encounter

Law enforcement interactions

Shooting Practical

20 rounds at 5 yards on target, with at least one reload.

Shooting is done outdoors, a few miles out of town, so dress for the season.

Weapons will be kept cased until at the firing line.

If you don't have a weapon yet, I can loan one.

(If you have no experience shooting a pistol, this is not the course for you.  You should take my NRA Basic Pistol, or First Steps Pistol class first, to learn the basics of shooting safely.)

NO LIVE AMMO IN THE CLASSROOM!

Five Reasons to get your Permit to Carry:

1.  You refuse to be a victim.

2.  Criminals are less likely to attack if they think you               might be armed.

3.  You are responsible for your own safety.

4.  Its proactive.  Police protection is not guaranteed.
